Three powerhouse Minnesotan fiddlers — Rachel Calvert (Barbaro), Maura Dunst (The Foxgloves), Tessa Nichols-Meade (Ryan Picone Quartet) — join forces alongside guitarist Hannah Hendrickson to form Triple Fiddle: a collaboration of sensational fiddle harmonies and lusciously layered vocals. After a couple exciting years performing at venues and festivals across the midwest including Blue Ox Music Festival, Boats and Bluegrass, Larryfest, and The Erika Quam Memorial Theatre, Triple Fiddle recorded their debut EP with Steve Kaul at Wild Sound Recording Studio in Minneapolis. Backed by Rina Rossi (Steam Machine) on upright bass, the six-track recording showcases their technical prowess, thoughtful arrangements, and playful exploration of fiddle traditions and techniques.
In fall of 2025, Triple Fiddle bid a bittersweet bon voyage to founding member Jackie Rae Daniels as she moved to Nashville, and welcomed Nichols-Meade to the band. With Nichols-Meade, they continue to share their three-part fiddle and vocal harmonies on stages across the region. Drawing from honkytonk, western swing, classical chamber music, jazz, bluegrass, and Scandinavian folk music, Triple Fiddle presents soaring arrangements of originals, covers, and traditional fiddle music. Triple Fiddle also takes a strong stance advocating for more inclusive practices within the music industry for women and mothers, hosting jams for women and nonbinary musicians, and calling for venues and festivals to provide lactation spaces for performers who are nursing/pumping.
Rachel Felicia Calvert
Minneapolis-based fiddler, vocalist, and music educator Rachel Felicia Calvert has performed her unique “chamber-grass” approach to fiddle music at stages all around the world, from Nashville to Istanbul. Outside of Triple Fiddle, she can be seen performing with stringband quartet Uncle Kenny and award winning ensemble Barbaro , as well as frequently collaborating with dozens of folk, country, rock, and classical ensembles throughout the Twin Cities. Rachel also teaches private lessons and is the violin and music specialist at Zen Montessori.
Tessa Nichols-Meade
Tessa began her violin playing journey miming the strings part to Eleanor Rigby on her coffee table as a child. After receiving formal music training throughout her school years and into college, she has had the opportunity to collaborate with many creative projects and bands over the years. Most recently, these include the Ryan Picone Quartet, Coyote Wild, Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre, and Thor Leseman and the Wregulars (aka the Iron Range Troubador). She loves improvising, writing parts, and supporting fellow musicians and artists whenever seh can, all while continuing to discover her own unique voice through music.
Maura Dunst
Maura Dunst is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who loves a good slow-n-sad. She is the fiddle/mando player in the Foxgloves, and frequently collaborates with a number of other folk, rock, and bluegrass projects in the midwest. Her debut solo album, This Won’t End Well was released in December 2022. Playful at times, heart-wrenching at others, her music will make you laugh and make you think. As a powerful storyteller and performer, Dunst is an emerging artist to watch on the Midwestern Americana music scene.
Hannah Hendrickson
Hailing from St. Paul, singer-songwriter and guitarist Hannah Hendrickson performs and collaborates with some of the most exciting folk acts out of the midwest. Combining an impressive repetoire of traditional folk music with expertly-crafted original songs, Hannah’s music and voice are at once timeless and refreshingly contemporary. When Hannah isn’t holding down the rhythm for Triple Fiddle, you can catch her performing solo or with folk trios Mountain Fern and Said in Stone.
